Both members of the Budgerigar Society of South Africa. Club members of the Jacaranda Show budgie Society from 2008 - 2011, joined Free State Budgie Society middle 2011.

Background:

Christo joined the Jacaranda Show Budgie Society in 2008 and Marlize soon followed in 2009. We keep approximately 200 birds at a time but are still expanding and would like to accommodate at least 600 birds. Our bloodline consists mainly out of Molkentin birds although we still have some of the initial stock that we started with. This two lines are still kept separately.

Our birds improved significantly in the last 2 years and we can gladly say that we can compete competitively in the coming show seasons. As with many other fanciers in the hobby there will always be room for improvement, but we are quite satisfied with the results we achieved so far. We would also like to make changes to our set-up in order to accommodate more birds and also to make the task of show preparation a little bit easier.

2010

We bred some good quality birds out of the 152 that were rung. Show season also went fairly well as we managed to end up in the top 10 "Novice Exhibitors" for the year. Unfortunately we got our 2011 rings very late and had to cut back on our breeding programme. This caused some of our best birds to fall out of their breeding routine and gave us a huge setback. Except for hoping to achieve good results in the 2011 show season, our aim will be to breed even better quality than the previous year.
